Why, hello…

…there. I am Dr Emma A. Jane. I am a Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia. I study various phenomena at the intersection of gender, technology, and ethics, and have just published a new book with Sage called Misogyny Online: A Short (and Brutish) History. (Bet you can’t guess what it’s about.)

My friend and code-savvy colleague Dr Nicole A Vincent and I built these generators around our day jobs as academics. The input data is drawn from multiple research projects conducted over many years. A formal description of these projects – and an explanation of some of the terminology used on this site – can be found on the Methodology page.

NB: Emma A. Jane is employed by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and is the recipient of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA Project ID: DE150100670). The views expressed herein are those of the author’s and are not necessarily those of the ARC or UNSW.
